I believe that Chris McCandless was a brilliant but ignorant guy. Just because he wanted to get away from his parents and his life where he grew up, it didn't mean he had to go and make stupid decisions by traveling to Alaska. He made a huge mistake by doing so and not telling anyone because in the end he ended up dead, leaving his parents and friends to worry about him while he was gone into the wild. I think he just lost his mind and had no care in the world. He must have felt that leaving was his only way to escape, but in the end it didn't prove a point or anything. Chris McCandless knew what he wanted to do as soon he graduated from Emory University. He was an intelligent guy that went to school to get his degree but his mind was set to leave his home and go into the wild, so he did. Not everyone agrees that they need to go to school and then have this successful life afterwards. Some people just want to do what makes them happy, not what their parents want them to do. Finding your future and getting your life together right after school is not something everyone can just do on their own. …show more content…
There are a lot of people who are that way. They can be very smart, but they do things that people don't expect them to do because of how dumb of a decision they make. People do what they want to do with their lives. No one can tell them not to do something. Even if it could be risky, they still go through with what they want. In some ways I can agree with Callarman because he says that McCandless had no common sense of going into the wild just to get to Alaska, which is true because look how it had turned out for him. He left all his friends and family with no clue of where he was going and he didn't even make it back home to them so I thought he made a huge mistake in doing that.
