This essay is based in a bestseller book To Kill A Mockingbird a “simple love story” as Harper Lee describes it, was written about the times in the 1930’s where segregation was a huge problem. This book follows a girl named Jean-Louise Finch (Scout) and her brother Jeremy Finch (Jem) and their adventure through the small town of Maycomb as they uncover the truth about their town. The book shows so much hatred and prejudice and it talks about injustice towards the colored folks, so why does Harper Lee consider it a “simple love story” simply because of the relationships among one another. He puts himself into Tom’s situation and he knows that he is an innocent person that does good for all those around. Atticus shows that he will protect Tom Robinson just like any other white folk that he has protect before because he must keep his word around town and that he will not discriminate him therefore will not give less effort to this client because of his skin color.
