In the short story ,"Anthem"by Ayn Rand, people are under control to think like and be like the same person in their Brotherhood.The society that is created is built off a social thinking that all should be referred to as "we" instead of "I".Out of all the people that are apart of this type of society, Equality stands out as an intelligent and zealous young man who seeks to learn and be a scholar.Inevitably, Equality in the story is lashed and criticized for his type of thinking because the society he lives in is strict.Equality lives under the influence that if he's to be independent then he'd be killed which is why he doesn't reveal his true genius.Equality could've surpassed the Scholars if he wasn't given the job of Street Sweeper, in fact he probably would revolutionized the society if he was given a chance. …show more content…
