How Is Jordan Baker Corrupt In The Great Gatsby

Throughout the book the Great Gastby, all of the characters have shown some corruption in numerous amounts of ways. This book shows that the 1920's were degrading all around. Whether it was from going from being innocent to corrupt or money making the character corrupt or something completely different, but still proves the point. The characters drive that point in with a nail. The show the recklessness and carelessness of these characters One of the characters, Jordan Baker, provides ample evidence of corruption by being careless and reckless.
Some of the things Jordan says, shows that she doesn't really know that she is careless and corrupt until the end of the novel. In the beginning she seems like she was a very caring person who wants the best for her friends. Nick describes what she's like as "She wasn't able to endure being at a disadvantage and, given this unwillingness, I supposed she had begun dealing in subterfuges when she was very young in order to keep that cool, insolent smile turned to the world and yet satisfy the demands of her hard, jaunty body"(58). She always fell in with what the crowd was doing. She talked about how she amount others were envious of Daisy at one point and how she had everything including a guy to look at her right. Then later as she gets older she tries to stay in vogue so she’s never out of style and goes to all of Gatsby's parties. She had a charming and discontented face that made people like her. She always just wanted to have a good time, but she never considered anyone else's feelings in any matter. Like at the end of the book when after Myrtle was hit by a car, she wanted Nick to stay because 'the night was young.' She had the money to do what she wanted, with whom she wanted, making her careless. She was corrupted by the money that she had and surrounded her.
