Many Ancient civilizations had a large amount of similarities and yet so many differences Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt While ancient Egypt was around from 3100 B.C. - 332 B.C. and Mesopotamia was around from the beginning of written history (3100 B.C.) to about 539 B.C., they were civilizations during the same time for the most part. From the outside, they look very similar, but once you get down to the details, they don’t relate much at all. While both of these ancient civilizations did a lot for modern civilization, they did it in very different ways. Mesopotamia and Egypt both existed around rivers. Mesopotamia was surrounded by the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. These rivers were very hard to handle and flooded very often, ruining crops and sometimes cities. They took a lot to manage and keep under control. Egypt existed around the Nile. The Nile was described as cool and easy to handle. It would flood, but at just the right …show more content…
For example, both of their economies were based off of agriculture. People being paid in grain. They both had taxes and people would pay their taxes in grain. Both civilizations had kings of some kind. Mesopotamia had kings, priests, and rulers and Egypt had kings and pharaohs. Both of their leaders had a lot of power and the pharaohs were even seen as godly sometimes. Both of these had similar social classes. They had 3 with the kings, rulers, and pharaohs at the top and peasants and others at the bottom and middle. This helped set up who worked as what and how power was passed on. Mesopotamia and Egypt both had written forms of language. They were used for things like documenting trade and even what happened with the priests, kings, and rulers of any kind. Mesopotamia is even why we have a written language. Their civilization created the first ever written language and they’ve been around since the beginning of recorded history because they created
