Books are a valuable source of knowledge. It takes readers into different aspects of life, cultures and worlds through someone elses eyes. Books have broadened my mind and creativity,and it taught me lessons that I already or had not yet learned from life. At a early age, it opened my eyes to issues I didn’t know existed, such as racism,abuse, illnesses and etc. Books that had affected me is, “ A Child Called It' by Dave Pelzer,“ To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee and, “The Diving Bell and The Butterfly” by Jean-Dominique Bauby.
. "A Child called It" written by Dave Pelzer, is a book that is known to be one of the worst documented cases of child abuse and a book that affected me emotionally. In the book, Dave had to endure numerous types of abuse such as starvation, cruelty and torture for the majority of his childhood. This is an incredible story that encouraged me to become a strong person in times when it is very difficult to do so. During reading this book, it shows us the opportunity that Dave had to free himself from situation, if only he had the courage to talk to someone about it. This book affected my life not because I was physically abused but I was sexually abused for months and didn’t have the courage to say something. Like Dave, I had multiple chances to express my situation with someone but was too afraid."A Child Called It" is an inspiration to all readers. Its a book with a
