When I was five years old, my parents signed me up for a softball league. Little did I know, softball would become an immense part of my life for the next twelve years. For a long time, I believed softball was my one and only passion. In realizing that it wasn’t, I found that my new devotion was art. Finding art and all of the other aspects that come with it has shaped who I am and who I want to be.
During my freshman year of high school, I took a beginners drawing class. At the same time, softball consumed my life and I loved it. I always enjoyed art but also always put softball first. But, in my junior year, things started to change. I began getting recruited to play in college. The pressure of trying to beat out thousands of other amazing players for one spot on top of the pressure of school and a job became too much for me. Last year, I drew a human figure of a woman with the word “repressed” written in a bar across her chest. While it may seem vague, I created it to make a statement about the unnecessary sexualization of women. It just goes to show how powerful a work of art can be. Art is something with no rules and that is why I love makeup as well. You can be so carefree and unique when doing both. I love dreaming up new makeup looks, as well as new art projects. To relate drawing to hip hop, hip hop is my favorite type of music. Hip hop in itself is an art, but there is an unexplainable feeling for me when I can bring an artist or their songs to life in my own way. I love being able to explore the various parts that make up the vast art world. Since art is so blissful to me, I consider it to be a monumental piece of
