In the novel Criminal by Terra Elan McVoy I chose three main characters from the book to find out when they may have been born based off of their sun signs using their characteristics from the book. The three characters I chose were Nikki, Dee, and Bird. Nikki was definitely an interesting character to read about. Based on the research I did, Nikki would be born sometime between June 21st and July 22nd, so her sun sign would be Cancer. Cancerians are known to be very emotional people. Nikki was definitely an emotional person. In the book it says, “I didn’t know how long I’d cried or how long she’d worked her slim, strong fingers into my muscles. I just know that, for a good while, every knot she worked seemed to undo more tears.” In that quote Nikki was telling Bird about how her boyfriend may be cheating on her and Bird was trying to calm her down by giving her a massage. Nikki would always have break downs if she felt that she was losing her boyfriend Dee or even if he didn’t call or text her back.
Dee on the other hand didn’t care about anything. He is short tempered, determined, impatient, and sometimes very moody. These are all characteristics of someone whose sun sign would be Aries. Bird was a very responsible and caring person. Bird was basically Nikki’s guardian. She would take care of Nikki, feed her, let her sleep in her house as if it were her own. All of these traits are all things someone would have if their sun sign was capricorn. In the book Bird would always do the right things. She never got herself into trouble and she made sure that Nikki was doing the right things as well. Bird cared so much for Nikki no matter how much trouble she got in and she cared deeply for her daughter Jamelee as well. Therefore, Bird would be born between December 22nd and January
