Very young children need a lot more attention and some may require physical contact. Older children are a lot more confident and need less attention. You will need to adapt your vocabulary so you will be easily understood. Be aware of the situation you are in and interact accordingly.
Context of communication When in school you deal with children in various situations and you should know what type of boundaries should be set. In a learning activity it is important that you are clear with instructions and show an interest in what they are doing ready to give help if any problems occur. It is also important to have children focused and deal with any distractions promptly. In a playground situation your communication will be unplanned and children will feel more relaxed and comfortable. This will give you the opportunity to get to know the children a little better and build up a good relationship whilst always keeping a professional manner.
