Hate Crimes are a serious and dangerous issue in America. Those who fall victimized to these crimes are the “elderly, those disabled, those who are religious, and those who are of a different race.” Hate crimes are important because they affect everyone. Many do not know why people commit hate crimes, though many believe people gain a thrill from it. Hate crimes have been around since humans first walked on the earth. “The United States issued a hate crime law in 2009 to try and prevent hate crimes, yet they still occur.” There have been many ideas to try and stop hate crimes, such as more protection by the police and also just making everyone aware of hate crimes. To stop these crimes against hate, America should enforce the hate crime law more, and raise public awareness. A hate crime is a crime motivated by sexual, racial or other prejudice, typically hate crimes involve violence.
