I have seen myself grow as a writer in this class. I am a stronger writer who now uses evidence and details to support my essays. The readings and critical thinking has impacted how my writing has changed. The techniques given to us to use and the readings examples really set an example on what I should be writing. The excerpt on Black Friday shopping in the Norton Field Guide really showed me how to argue a claim and back it up with details. Being able to use that as a reference and make sure that I was doing everything correctly really helped my writing.
Learning about each type of essay and going over it in class really helped my process of writing an essay. In my memoir, doing multiple drafts really helped me get to my final draft. Usually, I only draft once but by doing even one more really made a difference in my writing. In my textual analysis, the peer review workshop was very helpful. I didn't realize I had so many thesis statements until I had other opinions. For my argumentative essay, researching and knowing about my topic really helped. This has helped me in writing because I know how to change my wording to make my tone different and make my essay stronger, depending on my audience. The rhetorical situation and going through the steps in class really helped me get started on my essay because it gave me the background information on the type of essay to write. Also, MLA format was good to learn more about because this is the basics on writing a formal paper. Learning how to cite a paper the proper way is very helpful to avoid plagiarism and give the authors credit. MLA is the most common style used so when writing my papers for my college classes, so I will know how to write them
