The Holocaust The Holocaust was one of the greatest injustices of all time, and was a vast part of WWII that started in 1933 and ended in 1945. The origin of “Holocaust” is Greek, which means “sacrifice by fire.” It was a genocide that killed over six million people. Adolf Hitler blamed the Jews for Germany losing WWI in 1918, and was a main leader of the Holocaust to persecute the Jews. The Holocaust was to create a “perfect race” by exterminating many different people, and to take over the Soviet Union.

Over 200,000 people were without a home after the Holocaust because it had been destroyed in WWII. Without anywhere to go to, many survivors died, while others tried to come to America for a new start. Millions of people were declared dead after the Holocaust. About 400 million people who died were civilians. The Holocaust was to exterminate religious dissents, the disabled and Jews, but it also killed many other people too.
