Over the last ten years two million children have been killed, over one million orphaned, and over six million left seriously injured. I’m sure you have heard about the strongly argumented topic of child soldiers. Child soldiers are children who are enlisted into the army, and are required to commit acts that have never been imagined to be taken upon by a child. Sometimes these children even being manipulated to undergo difficult tasks. Over time child soldiers have been a controversial subject with two different point of views. However the question still stands, are child soldiers victims, or perpetrators by being included in these acts of war?

My last reason is most times overlooked. A reporter said, “ Child soldiers should not be prosecuted... Prosecution of a child should always be regarded as a measure of last resort and the purpose being of any sentence to rehabilitate and reintegrate the child into society.” We shouldn’t be punishing these children for being forced into the army rather, we should be helping them come back and be connected into society. The problem with prosecution is that far too many problems can come from it. Prosecution can be based off a lack of evidence, and more selective. Rehabilitation programs have been shown to be more successful. Showing that this is a better way to take action and help these child soldiers rather than punish them. By this evidence I am clearly convinced that, by the loss of families and friends of the child because of the military, it causes the child to make these decisions.
