The Crucible Movie Review In the movie “The Crucible” which is based off a real story, many horrible events happen. The main characters in the movie are, Daniel Day-Lewis who acted as John Proctor in the film, Winona Ryder played the role of Abigail Williams, and Bruce Davison who starred as Reverend Parris throughout the film. The film is a historical drama that is based off an event that actually happened. The Salem Witch Trials took place in the little colony of Salem, Massachusetts in the year of 1692. Throughout “The Crucible” many horrific events take place, from people be accused of witchery, to children dancing naked in the forest, and grown men having affairs all occur in this true story. In the town of Salem, Massachusetts many bad things went on. It all started when Reverend Parris went into the forest and found several little girls naked, dancing in the woods. After seeing this the Reverend demanded answers from the children. One of the children involved, Abigail Williams, said that Tituba made the girls dance, with the accusation of witchery. Soon after, Reverend Hale of Beverly made the trip to Salem to search for any signs of witchcraft. Reverend Hale arrived, and many more people from Salem were accused of witchcraft, he also found that John Proctor had an affair with Abigail Williams. In my opinion, this film is a beautiful work of art that should be enjoyed by the people who view this movie in the future. I recommend that anyone who loves historic events and dramatic plays to take some time and watch this movie. Another reason why people might be interested in this film is because of the fact that this was a real event and people might want to know more about it.
