This semester I was placed in George I. Sanchez Collaborative Community School, in Mrs. Nava and Mrs. Romero's kindergarten class. It was difficult to choose a student because I felt that majority of the assessment would not work well with my kindergarten class and I really thought that I was not going to get much information from them. Working with the students from the beginning of the semester up to this point I have seen how much they have grown. I am very proud of the growth those students have done, I will be talking about a particular student that has shown a grown within this semester. The student I decide to work with is Mariah, I did several assessments, of course applicable for her age to show where she stands academically.

In September, Mariah was scared because she only knew 12 upper and 14 lowercase letters. She was not comfortable in saying the letters, especially when I was showing them out of order. It took her a while to be able to say the letter because she was saying the alphabet in her head. In October, there was a huge change in Mariah, she knows all of her upper and lower case letters. This time around, she was a bit more relax when taking the assessment again. Once I showed her the letter, especially in upper case, she said them fast, with lower case it took her a bit longer, but she did extremely good. In November, Mariah was assessed with her sounds before starting this particular assessment it was important to repeat to her that it was the sound of the letter she had to say and not the letter. Mariah knows 23 sounds, she had some difficulty with the sounds of h, e, and q.During the assessment Mariah was nervous to say the sounds, and at times she will tell me the letter, but will remember that it is the sound I am looking
