The rest of the week was spent at the Fan Morning Show. I learned more about writing web stories after we had interviews with Bob Walk and Neil Huntingdon. I learned how they are constructed with the quotes in the middle of the stories and how to add the audio clips I cut up into the web stories. I was somewhat prepared for this due to the Writing for the Web class that I took with professor Szuminsky. The tagging of other stories and inserting them into the one you were working on was one of the other topics we focused on after typing up the quotes from the interviews. I helped prepare the quotes and then the producer showed me how he prepared his story and told me if there were other opportunities he would allow me to write one.

They use NewsBoss editing software, which is very similar to what I have used at my work at WMBS 590 AM. So I was already familiar with the editing but the producer showed me how concise and perfect the editing had to be because of the time constraints they had with commercials. Also the audio that I was editing of manger Clint Hurdle was only going to be affective if the clips were short. This was something I had learned in Lanny Frattare’s Sports Announcing classes. So my main focus for the week was being prepared for interviews, asking quality follow-up questions and also networking and audio editing. I worked three days at the Steelers training camp interviewing over 15 players. The biggest part that I took away from all of these days was the improvement of question asking had drastically improved. I think the part I had most improved on was my ability to become and active listener. I found that throughout the summer I got so caught up on all the questions I wanted to ask that I failed to ask the obvious follow-up questions. This week I also was able to get more usage with the NewsBoss software and it allowed me to become better at editing the clips and doing them in a timely manner since they had to be over to the update anchors for usage on the 20-20 updates. The time at the Steelers practice also allowed me a chance to work on my live tweeting availability while balancing other responsibilities. In Writing for the Web, we learned about covering an event through social media and I thought this was a way to practice that skill even more. I tweeted live updates of what was going on as an extra side objective for myself. I quickly learned that when trying to live tweet, make
