After interviewing Cliff Adams about his career as a programmer for Franklin Children’s Services I considering a career in computer sciences more strongly. Cliff was my backup contact because I originally wanted to interview my neighbor Doug about his career as a lawyer since I am interested in law, but that fell through. I had Cliff as my backup because I am fairly good on computers and my mom is always saying that I should think about going into a computer related field because I built a lot of websites when I was between the ages of eight and twelve. I still wasn’t very convinced that computer science was for me going into the interview though just because I was more interested in law.

I am interested in looking into computer sciences more now and exploring the different careers that I could pursue. Before my interview with Cliff, I hadn’t considered the possibility that I could have a programming career and still do something that I could feel gratified by. I have reservations about the idea of working at a desk all day after talking to him though. He said that he has to remind himself to get up and move around throughout the day and that people can develop issues with eyesight after having a computer-based desk job for a long period of time. If I were able to do interim this year I would have considered asking Cliff for contacts in his field to get a better idea of what it would be like to sit at a desk of that long everyday for a week.
As a result of this interview, I am considering looking into taking a free online beginning computer science course, or maybe looking into computer science options at Ohio State University through College Credit Plus next semester. I want to look into if there are careers that combine both criminal justice and computer science as
