The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a coming of age story that depicts the adventure of a young boy and an escaped slave who become friends despite all the hate from those who surround them. It was written by Mark Twain whose life had a big affect on the book as he lived in the time of slavery and major prejudice which shaped his anti-slavery views which the book portrayed. The novel’s theme was based on how race isn’t a defining trait, some people just need to learn to accept equality which Twain’s views and life as stated before had a big influence on. Twain’s story was very inspired by his personal experiences and was influenced by his many travels which affected their adventure making it more real. Their adventure proves that a boy like Huck and a man like Jim could live happily without hate or shame. The main part in which it was known that Huck really did care about Jim deep down was when Huck said that he’d go to hell instead of informing mrs. Watson of Jim's whereabouts. Huck was a true friend he would would fight for Jim as seen on so many different occasions, he wanted him to be free. It was an unlikely friendship that they formed which proved that it is in fact possible for everyone to treat each other equally. As seen in Civil Disobedience and the Ending of Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the book expresses the idiocy and viciousness of racial prejudice and the injustice of slavery. It proves that Twain did in fact want to expose the issue of racism whether it be by showing the truth and how it affects people but also by showing that if we just all be friends life would be a lot easier. Their friendship is a example of how people can live in harmony with equality instead of prejudice.
