Another theme in this book is the cruelty of man. A major fundamental example of this theme is Pap. Huck’s father used and abused him when only recently appearing back into his life. Huck’s mother had died and his father was constantly drunk and disappearing. Only when Pap heard about Huck coming across a great deal of money did he come back only to try and take the money to buy more alcohol. When he ran into his son, He was not at all proud that Huck had become slightly more civilized or could read.
