Humaness
George Bernard Shaw once said, “If history repeats itself, and the unexpected always happens, how incapable must man be of learning from experience?” and Albert Einstein, “the definition of insanity is to repeat something over and over again and expecting a different result each time.” The history of mankind is plagued with conflicts of politics, race, and religion; these vital organs of civilization has been the bane of human existence. The same conflicts occur time and time again throughout history. Surely mankind is insane and incapable of learning if repetition is insanity. The conflict of politics has been around since the time of emperors and kings, as old as mankind itself; a struggle between two opposing men. This conflict is not resolved by these two individuals, this is resolved by a clash of swords paid by the blood of thousands of civilians, paid by the blood of brothers, fathers, husbands, sons, and uncles. In the end a war is won, the enemy defeated and victory is declared. What man has failed to see is that the enemies were also brothers, fathers, husbands, sons and uncles with loved ones. In the end thousands died for a man on a chair. That is the price of victory. What is victory if that is the price to be paid? The conflicts between religions have also plagued the history of human civilization. There are hundreds of interpretations of God and gods but every major religion boils down to this: an ideal world to live with love and peace. In Christianity all men are the child of God, God is forgiving, killing is a sin; in Islam all men are like brothers, no race is above another. It is ironic, oh so ironic, how there is a history of slavery and war in every nation on this planet and how there continues to be slavery and war today. The fact that 9/11 occurred is an example of war, but the response to 9/11 was an act of hatred
