I met with Ms. Banchongchith in her office at The Villa at Sunny Acres, on the scheduled appointment day of February 19, 2018. When I scheduled the appointment with her I had explained I was in my junior year at Metropolitan State University. I further explained I was majoring in Health Care Management with a minor in Elder Services Leadership. One of my assignments for Health Care Human Resource Management was to interview a manager or practitioner in Human Resources to find out first-hand details of the position and provide me with an opportunity to learn from their experiences. Ms. Banchongchith shared that her belief of the retention of clinical and non-clinical staff is by keeping the employee happy and satisfied with benefits, upholding cultural customs, recognizing what the employee can deliver depending largely upon the knowledge, skills and motivation of the individuals responsible for delivering health services within the health care setting. Another environmental factor is the amount and pricing of health care drugs, implants and nonrefundable equipment. These factors are rising at an astronomical rate. These costs can increase the cost of health care which does effect the ability to hire and retain quality personnel. Human resources must be able to find the necessary balance of the workforce personnel and adequate tools to perform at an effective and efficient level. “To maximize recruitment and retention, and to minimize employee issues, small business managers must continually monitor internal and external environmental factors and adjust HR strategy accordingly” (Benjamin, T. Health and safety initiatives are part of the strategic approach of human resources in that a happy employee is a more productive employee as health and safety compliance can have an extensive and highly positive impact on the organization as a whole. Expenses involved in becoming and maintaining OSHA compliance are not high, if we compared the expenses involved in an accident or fire. “Health and safety compliance is a long-term investment in the well-being of a company, its staff and its reputation” (Kilian, J. (n.d).) H. Ms. Banchongchith stated, “OSHA is not only a part of human resources responsibilities but also a part of the entire management responsibilities”. It protects the employees, patients and organization against disasters to make the environment
