I. We will introduce our topic of human experimentation by briefly describing what it is and how it is regulated through The Nuremberg Code. After that, we will give a few real life examples of human experimentation put into action in the past and how they failed.

II. The purpose of our presentation is to inform our classmates about human experimentation. The wrongfulness of human experimentation is demonstrated through describing The Aversion Project, The Tuskegee Experiments, Nazi Twin Experiments, and Unit 731.

Unit 731 was a covert biological and chemical warfare research and development unit of the Imperial Japanese army. It was started in 1936 and disguised as a water purification unit. The compound had over 150 buildings where thousands would soon die from horrific experiments. In 1945, with world war 2 coming to an end the Japanese ordered all evidence be destroyed. All remaining prisoners were killed and everyone who knew of it had to swear to secrecy (or face dire consequences). B. Some of the activities that went on at Unit 731 were vivisection (the practice of performing operations on live animals (Humans in this case) for the purpose of experimentation or scientific research), germ warfare attacks, frostbite testing, rape and forced pregnancy, and weapons testing. Now whether this is all they did is unknown. The Japanese covered it up so well, there’s very little information on Unit 731. They didn’t even acknowledge it existed until 1984.

IV. Clearly, The Aversion Project, The Tuskegee Experiments, Nazi Twin Experiments, and Unit 731 were the ugly of human experimentation. These examples show how cruel humans can be towards one another and attempt to make people what they are not, the same. It is important to understand what human experimentation is and what The Nuremberg Code is and how it controls experimentation on
