Since then, slavery has seemed to disappear, you don’t see rich landowners own their own servants. But, under our own noses, there has emerged an even worse crime, something unspeakable of, Human Trafficking.

Now, what is Human Trafficking? You’ve probably heard about it on the news, maybe heard a speech about it, but might not know the meaning of it. The definition of it, is “The recruitment of people for commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor for little or no pay.” But, it actually means: “Bad people being evil.” Most of

And what are some ways we can help put a stop to this? During the period of being trafficked, victims are normally kept in a form of bondage through a type of physical and psychological abuse known as traumatic bonding. In this relationship, the victim develops a strong bond with the abuser, making it hard for them to escape. When the victims are identified, they often face a high level of stigmatization, which is to be marked by disgrace. They often require special services to heal from trauma caused by the abuse they have endured. Many survivors suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, where they repeatedly relive, remember or dream about their terrible experiences. Ways we can help end and support victims of human trafficking include fundraising for anti-trafficking organizations, engage youth in this topic, for about half of the trafficked are girls under the age of 18, and they might be able to recognize situations where they might be in danger, and to spread this topic to raise awareness, so more people can become engaged in the fight against
