Over the past few weeks, I have been enjoying a novel titled The Hundred Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson and translated to English from Swedish by Rod Bradbury. The book itself has Allan Karlsson as its main character a 99-year-old man who is about to celebrate his 100th birthday when he decides to escape the nursing home. The story then jumps between the present, his run from the nursing home and others as well as flashbacks to his past.
While the book provoked many thoughts surrounding a multitude of themes, one that particularly stuck for a number of reasons was the advancement of technology and just how different things have become in the past 5 – 10 years and how vastly different we live our

Instantly, your mobile phone becomes no more than a music player and camera. Then imagine this same solar flare or asteroid had so much electromagnetic radiation that it blew electrical transformers plunging the world into darkness.
