The disease got its name from where it was first found in the United States in Lyme, Connecticut in 1970 it has been around ever since. The town believes that the reason of the outbreak was due to the accidental release of ticks that were infected during an experiment at the Plum Island Animal Disease Center (Deer). As the population of the deer increases in Connecticut and around the United States you could see the fear and people infected by the disease grows higher. In lots of areas, some deer feed in our yards eating flowers, shrubs, and eating in our home gardens. This doesn't only destroy the yards, but can require them to be fixed by buying more flowers and shrubs costing people money plus trying to keep the deer out of the gardens by fences and scarecrows.
