I would teach my classmates a one-day course titled Discovering What’s Important. As a native Houstonian, Hurricane Harvey was personally devastating. My childhood home was destroyed, along with the homes of many family members and close friends. During the unforgiving downpour, rainwater began to slowly enter my home, beginning in the sunken living room and slowly entering cracks and crevices in the kitchen and dining room. As the floodwater began to rise, my family was forced to make split-second decisions about which items were worth saving. Living in a one-story home, each selected item had to be immediately moved to the higher cabinets. We decided to prioritize that which we knew to be priceless: our memories.
