Several hurricanes have hit Texas in the past, but none were as extreme as Harvey. With hurricane Harvey being considered a category 4, it was one of the most destructive tropical storms in the history of the United States, which made landfall in Texas in August 25th. Since Harvey wasn’t the first hurricane to hit Texas, it wasn’t taken seriously. However, the aftermath was very devastating, unexpected, and extremely chaotic. Harvey busted the U.S Record by dumping 51 inches of rain. Due to the high amount of water, Houston had parts that were underwater, such as freeways, schools, homes, and vehicles.
Thoughts/ Opinions Even though my family and I didn’t encounter personal damage from the hurricane, many people did, including close friends. However, one thing that did affect me, was the fact that I couldn't go to work for a whole week, thankfully my vehicle

I just think that people didn’t really think that this hurricane was going to be that serious.
Critical Points However, those weren't the only issues the community went through. Other issues that the hurricane Harvey caused, were the limited supplies we actually use on a daily basis. Multiple stores were running out of water, while others were trying to overprice it. Instead of helping people, plenty of stores were trying to exploit them. Another issue was that several gas stations were running out of gas, to the point that people were making lines waiting for their turn to fill up their tanks. Due to this, there was an increase on the price of gasoline. Houston is known as a big city and how there can be traffic at certain times. But with the storm causing a flood everywhere, roads became unpassable. Several roads that people take as a shortcut to go to work are still blocked till this moment, so everyone must take the same routes as everyone causing traffic anywhere and at any
