In recent years one problem that the United States and much of the world has faced is the problem of energy. We are currently in an energy crisis because we have used coal at a faster pace than it can be replenish through natural process. As a whole we use an approximate 11 billion tons of oil in fossil fuel that can not be replenish with in our lifetime. Having done concrete data we can infer that its no longer a matter of how long till fossil fuels ends but a matter of when it does what will happens next. That is the reason that we as a nation are in a hunt for the next process or resource that we can utilize to make energy lasting and efficient. Many proponents have been suggested like nuclear, solar, and hydroelectricity, although like many things in the universe there is always an exception. In the case of nuclear power plants …show more content…
Having concluded that hydraulic fracturing is poorly regulated and monitored how can we assure that oil extracted from fracking will be used for Californians and their energy needs. California consumes and approximately 15 billion gallons of oil a years and 37 percent is produced with in California(MARK HERTSGAARD, 2014). Since oil is sold in the global market we can’t guarantee that oil obtained in fracking will stay in California since the United States imports about 5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas (eia, 2014).

One recent discovery that has many environmentals spectacle that hydraulic oil will actually stay in California is Monterey shale. After having done further studies on the Monterey shale it is estimates that it contains more than six hundred million barrels of oil which has many thoughtful that it will be kept in California.
