The rise of the Hyksos monarchs in Egypt began with the arrival of Palestinian immigrants to the region beginning approximately during the 18th century BC. These immigrants introduced numerous innovative technologies to the land of Egypt, some of which included the composite bow for archery, the horse and chariot, and metallic based weapons fabricated using more advanced materials. The majority of these immigrants established themselves in the Eastern Region of the Nile Delta, where they grew and expanded, eventually establishing a central trade agreement with the regions within Western Asia.
