Diabetes Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar. Classic symptoms of diabetes are frequent urination, increased thirst, and increased hunger. There are three main types of diabetes. Type one, type two, and gestational diabetes. Type one diabetes targets younger people. Type one diabetes is partly inherited and then triggered by certain infections. It results in the bodys failure to produce insulin. The result is people have to get insulin shots to regulate. The term is also known as “juvenile diabetes”. Type two diabetes targets older people. Type two diabetes is due primarily to lifestyle factors and genetics. Some are obesity, poor diet, lack of exercise, and stress. This results from insulin resistance, a condition in which cells fail to use insulin properly. This form was previously referred to as “adult onset diabetes”. The last type of diabetes is gestational diabetes. It occurs when pregnant women without a previous diagnosis of diabetes develop a high blood glucose level. It may turn into type two diabetes as well. Other forms of diabetes include congenital diabetes, cystic fibrosis related diabetes, steroid diabetes, and several forms of monogenic diabetes. Untreated diabetes can result in many complications. Not as severe complications include diabetic ketoacidosis and non-kenotic hyperosmolar coma. Serious long term complications include cardiovascular disease, chronic renal failure, and retinal damage.
Hypertension
Hypertension is a long term medical condition in which blood pressure in the arteries is elevated. Hypertension is also known as high blood pressure. It measures the force against the walls of your arteries as your heart pumps blood through your body. The organ systems involved in hypertension are the cardiovascular system, kidneys, and the brain.
