Have you ever fought for equal rights or have you ever felt that you were not being treated equally or fairly? Well, Martin Luther King’s, “I Have a Dream” speech mentions the equal rights, freedom, and the opportunities that the African Americans/ colored people should have. The words in his speech deeply express his dream of the African American/ colored people to be treated equally as the other (whites). He had a dream that one day all kids, regardless of color, would be able to attend school, play, and work together as one in society. In addition to that, there will be no more separate restrooms or public facilities for people with colored or uncolored skin. Lastly, Martin Luther King, a famous activist, points out “The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone” (Martin Luther King’s Speech 1). Last but not least, this quote was the most influential and it made the whole audience applauded. This made the audience feel that they are no different than other people and should fight for their rights and for equality.
To conclude, the strongest of all the rhetoric techniques was the pathos. To add, ethos pathos, and logos all were used in the speech. The pathos of Martin Luther King’s speech was very effective and made a great change or influence in our history by granting the blacks or the colored people the right to live freely and equally. So, we all should always be thankful for the freedom we are born with today and for living in a society where everyone is treated
