The “I have a dream” speech by Martin Luther King Jr. in the first paragraph “I am happy to join you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation” points out that he will be talk about freedom and at the time African American where known to be slaves. This is a speech regarding his hope and dream to what should come of racial inequality, about the segregation and discrimination of African Americans one hundred years after the decree that made slaves free was made however African Americans still was not free, his speech is one to the government and the American people, lawmakers freedom. Martin Luther king through his speech showed that he believed that all people are created equal and have same rights, he relied on rhetorical strategies; using pathos, ethos and logos to appeal, sympathy with the American people. This pathos took various forms with different emotions in his speech his; ` one was in form of a scare tactic when he said “It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment”, “And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights”.
