Throughout my high school years, I have received several awards that I am proud of achieving. During freshman year, I was awarded the Geometry Award by my teacher, Mr. Mestyanek. I knew I wasn’t the smartest student in that class, but was one of the most hardworking. I have also been granted to other awards in other subjects including English, AVID, Pre-Calculus, and Physics. Additionally, I received the NHS appreciation award with the nomination from my peers for exceptional leadership. Not only have I been focused on my academics, but in others in my community. My team and I received an award from Speak Up! Speak Out! My father works full time and occasionally works night shifts while my mother is currently seeking employment. Additionally, both of my parents are immigrants and didn't have the opportunity to attend high school or college. This has made it difficult for them to obtain a well-paying job compared to others. In addition, my mother also doesn’t speak that much English and this has made it complicated for her to acquire a job. These financial hardships in my family, have shaped me into the person I have become today. It has motivated me to be the best I can be at school, so I can continue my education. My family’s financial situation may impact my ability to be a full-time college student and may cause economic difficulties. I want to be able to attend college without asking any or too much money from my parents to aid with my expenses. I intend to work while attending college, so I can be able to assist my parents’ financial situation. Post secondary education can be expensive, but I won't allow that to be a factor that prevents me from continuing my education. In conclusion, I will be able to do this for my parents, even though it still wouldn't be enough compared to what they have done for me since the day I was
