IEP/IFSP Goal 2
• Susan will increase class participation and academic tasks by thirty percent by the end of the nine weeks.
• This goal is important to the family because they want her to participate and succeed in school as she previously was.
• Achievement target: Her grades will increase by thirty percent along with her class participation.
• Who will help: parents, teachers, and school counselor
• When/Where: school, home, therapy
• Motivators: no homework passes, free time

• Susan will decrease depressive symptoms.
• This goal is important to the family because they want Susan to feel better about everything and feel better in general.

Depression can be caused by many things and can happen to any person. Susan had a lot of terrible things happen to her; for example, her father left and her grandmother passed away which brought the onset of depression and, in turn, made her feel the need to end her life. She also has it in her genetics, as her mother is on medication for depression. Susan is lucky to have people in her life, like her teacher and family, whom care for her enough to want to help her get the help she needs. Thankfully, after seeing a psychologist and being diagnosed with depression, she was able to get that help. Her psychologist was able to help her work through her problems and get on a plan for recovery while managing to avoid medications as well. There was also a plan put in place for the future if it appears that her feelings are relapsing. Because of all her family and her plan in place, Susan will be able to carry on with her bright future, and her fate will not include the list of the too many young adolescents who end their life as a result of depression. Instead, she will be able to help young girls who are going what she has gone through. Finally, she will able to look back on this someday as something that she overcame—not something that defeated
