In “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving, the main character Ichabod Crane shows that he is overly confident by what he does and says. One example that proves Ichabod acting confident is when he is impressing Katrina Van Tassel. He does this by doing something that he assumes will make him look brave. Ichabod confidently boasts, “A ball of fire! The Sleepy Hollow Bridge, you say! And tonight I have to cross it!”(153). This example shows that Ichabod is overly confident by what he does.
