The Iditarod Is a annual race were mushers and their dogs on a 1000 mile race across the Alaskan wilderness. The musher who wins will get the glory of finishing this brutal race and a cash prize. But should the Iditarod continue with all of these dogs dying, getting sick and getting injured? But how will we remember the Great Serum Race? There have been several good points on bothe sides on whether we should stop the Iditarod or not. One of them is that dogs love to run outside in cold weather, specifically siberian huskies. The siberian huskies are bred to race and to survive the Alaskan wilderness. In videos you can see at the beginning in the race how the dogs are jumping for joy. I think of it as if the dogs were human. We wouldn't allow 16 humans run 1000 miles in the wilderness. If they were injured or sick we wouldn't push them to go farther, we would probably stop them. But with dogs we push them to their breaking point. Dogs can get abused by their owners, some owners kill their dogs if they aren't doing good enough in training. You always see dogs jumping for joy in the beginning but by the end they are burnt out tired and probably dehydrated. Even before the race starts there is hard core training. Is it worth dogs getting hurt just to remember the bravery of mushers who helped get the serum to Nome? In conclusion there are many advantages and disadvantages to the Iditarod dog sled race. For example the Iditarod is too commemorate The Great serum race. As a consequence if we terminate the Iditarod we might forget to remember the sacrifice of all the mushers and their dogs. But we also have to think about how the dogs have to run 1000 miles through extremely difficult weather and terrain Is it worth the possibility of dogs dying or getting sick and
