People view ignorance as protection from the actions and ideas of others, and they believe this will help them in the future, when in reality, this will only hurt them and the people around them being subject to the oppressor. Ignorance at a young age can be beneficial in protecting the younger generations from ideas they wouldn't understand that would interfere with their growth and development.
