There are 8 types of lies. Each one is important to learn about. There are lies to protect others. There are also lies for the benefit of the liar. This is because people lie about different things. Lying is not the right thing to do. Many people lie about many different things. “65 percent of Americans say it's ok to lie to avoid hurting someone's feelings” (,) This shows that many people lie to protect others. Even though some people say lying is unjustified. But some people don’t think lying is ok. Immanuel Kant believes that no one should lie even if it's to protect others. “This is an absolutist position, prohibiting all lies, even those told for the best of purpose.” (Kant,1999) This shows that not everyone feels the same about lying.
