As a young undocumented Latinx student I have faced numerous myriad obstacles, dilemmas, as well as educational needs upon my arrival in the United States. Although, these upcoming situations may have limited my goals to pursue an education, I did not let my immigration status define me. Again, I did not let these situations define me as I knew that with perseverance, dedication, and the support of my admirable mother I could progress like I never anticipated possible.Of course due to the vast amount of obstacles I have fallen low I got to a point to be sleeping on the floor due to the poverty that I was facing at the time I do believe that I have been consistently vigilant and high-spirited in the works of things I set my eye on, I am aware …show more content…
I attend Silver Cross Hospital for community service my duties were mostly customer service. I loved attending because I would feel very accomplished when I would help out the rest of the visitors. Moreover, the patients were sick so I tried to converse with them to make them feel comfortable and wanted so they would not have to think about their condition. If I happen to receive this scholarship I would use this great opportunity to continue my dream of becoming a lawyer that will advocate for minority, especially Hispanic, and immigrant communities. At JJC, I want to start an undocumented student support group for all of the students that have endured situations similar to mine. I want this group to be a resource and safe heaven to undocumented students at JJC. Moreover, as a political science major I observed this year's election a little more different than the average American citizen. and I believe I was inflicted more stress through it all, this is why I feel we must start a support group for students to share our emotions with people who might endure these at the moment after all we have 4 years of this
