I would like to begin my speech by thanking my personal assistant, Caesar, and all those who have voted for me as the democratic candidate. I would not be here today without your help.

As well as those who have voted otherwise; despite our differences, we all have the same desire, to create a future America where our kids will grow up with access to the best education, have a safe and secure home, where they can prosper and pursue their dreams.

Let us create an America that isn’t buried in debt. One that doesn’t discriminate anyone, but includes everyone. One that isn’t terrorized due to the dangers of global warming. Let us keep the free America that we earned on July 4, 1776; 239 years from now; and continue to allow our country to grow.

I will help build a system that lives up to our heritage as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants. Our American immigration system has been broken for decades and everyday we wait to act millions of undocumented immigrants are living in the shadows. Those who want to pay taxes and play by the same rules as everyone else have no way to live right by the law. That is why I as President will use executive authority to address as much of the problem as he can, and why he’ll continue to work with Congress to pass comprehensive reform.

Every president since President Eisenhower has taken action to address immigration issues. As a result, many more immigrants have come, stayed, and contributed to the strength of the United States. Since the founding of our nation, the strength America draws from generations of immigrants is a fact that’s woven deeply into the fabric of our history.

I believe that in today’s world, the measure of strength is no longer defined by the control of territory. Lasting prosperity does not come solely from the ability to access and extract raw materials. The strength of nations depends on the success of their people -- their knowledge, their innovation, their imagination, their creativity, their drive, their opportunity -- and that, in turn, depends upon individual rights and good governance and personal security. Internal repression and foreign aggression are both symptoms of the failure to provide this
