Throughout the 20th and 21st century, we have seen an increase in global change and interconnectedness in the world. This is due to globalization, which is the flourishing of capital markets, and the process due to that in which national, regional, and international societies have interconnected through trade, immigration, transportation, and others. Capital markets internationalizing have come through from businesses striving to consistently increase their profits. This can occur by operating their corporations on an international level, or contributing to it, in ways such as global supply chains. However, globalization has led to an increase in human trafficking, both on a national and international level. This essay will discuss how human trafficking has increased due to globalization through the discussion of tightening border controls and policies, the poor economic and social circumstances of those being trafficked, and how labor markets have a high demand for cheap labor.
