Ever wanted to know if movies and plays are about the same? The story of Romeo And Juliet’s play is different from the movie in a lot of ways. The story of Romeo and Juliet’s movie has a lot of unused scenes including the Balcony scene, there wasn’t a date change for the wedding, and the ending of the movie were all imperfections from the play. This play was written by Shakespeare in 1595 and the movie was made by Franco Zeffirelli in 1968. One of the most important imperfections is the Balcony scene. Juliet was supposed to be in the balcony saying, “O Romeo, Romeo, Wherefore art thou Romeo?” Romeo was supposed to be below the balcony but in the movie he was in the balcony with Juliet. In the play Romeo could not climb the balcony to be with Juliet. Although in both the play and in the movie they both talked about their love for each other. Another important imperfection was the wedding date for Juliet and Paris was not changed in the movie. In the play the wedding date for Juliet and Paris was moved from Thursday to Wednesday for Juliet being unhappy. In the movie the wedding date scene was skipped over so it was not changed. Although in the movie Paris was not in the tomb and it was just Romeo there. On the other hand in the play Paris, Romeo, Juliet, and Lady Capulet died but in the movie only Romeo and Juliet died.
