For education and care services, understanding and valuing cultural diversity is key to countering racism in our services and in the wider community. Children need to be supported to explore the uniqueness of their culture and identity, while also understanding the cultural diversity that exists in their service and in the world around them. Educators and services need to be able to recognise, value and draw on children’s cultural backgrounds as well as helping children maintain their own languages while learning English.
