"Historical perspective" is understanding the social, cultural, and emotional settings that shaped people's lives and actions in the past. Essentialy historical perspective allows us to look at the past without using presentism. Historical perspective is a concept, which is helpful when looking at the origin and outbreak of world war one, for several reasons. To begin with, historical perspective can allow us to go back in time to the very beginning of world war one, and by doing this we can find out the cause of world war one. Historical perspective is useful for looking at the outbreak of world war one, because we can see how the war progressed over time, and the events that took place that caused this progression. Every historical event has a cause, which can be classified as direct or indirect. Similarly ever cause has a consequence, which can be short term or long term. Cause and consequence is useful when understanding the origin of world war one because it allows us to look at the causes of the event that started world war one, and the consequences. For instance, the event that took place was Serbia agreed to 2 out of 3 terms of the ultinatum that Austria-Hungary gave, thus Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. The cause of this example is Serbia only agreeing to 2 out of 3 terms, and the consequence is war. Cause and consequence is also useful for examining the outbreak of world war one, because we can see how each events causes and consequences are related. Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia, the cause was because their leader was killed, and the consequence is war, next Russia mobilized against Austria Hungary, the cause was their alliance with Serbia, and the consequence was that they made the war bigger.
