Importance Of Scientific Thinking

Thank you for sharing news to me and concern about my health. These three pieces of articles talking about food safety are really scary. When I am reading them, I found that the news only appeared in social networking sites like Facebook, What’s app and email. This makes me quite doubt about the sources and I try to verify them using some scientific method that I learnt from school.
Critical thinking is very important for us and it means to think scientifically and logically. There are six steps for thinking scientifically that I want to share to you. The first step is to ask question. We need to ask for why and how frequently towards problems we encountered. Second, we need to do some research based on our question. Like doing observation and searching related reliable sources like scientific journals, newspaper and book. Thirdly, we need to construct hypothesis. Try to think up a testable explanation to that problem. Fourthly, to design experiment for testing the hypothesis. After the testing, we will conduct a conclusion. If we don’t accept the result, we will go through the process again starting from step three to construct another hypothesis. Otherwise, we will accept the conclusion and finished the whole process.

Empiricism is to find information that is reliable. It can be our own personal experience, information from independent and reputable authority or the evidences come from the natural environment. Rationalism is to do reasoning with logic. We need to keep objective when having logical thinking. Scepticism is to keep an open mind and constantly question on
