The acclaimed story of Romeo and Juliet, a story about two star-crossed lovers ,who in the end, took their own life. Two feuding families’ children fall in love at a party, they marry after only meeting each other for two days. Juliet drinks a potion, Romeo kills himself thinking she is dead. Then Juliet wakes up finding Romeo dead then kills herself etc. etc. A classic story everyone knows, but looking back in the story gets one thinking who is mainly responsible for the deaths in Romeo and Juliet? There are many opinions about the question, its Friar because he gave them the potion, or its Mercutio because he convinces Romeo to come to the party. But Ultimately, Romeo and Juliet are responsible for the deaths as Romeo and Juliet makes impulsive decisions, leading to their and others deaths …show more content…
For example, in Act 1 scene 5 Juliet states “ My only love sprung from my only hate”.(shakespeare ) With this one can interpret that Juliet knows that she should not be together with Romeo but still decides to despite the consequences. Showing that Juliet makes impulsive decisions without thinking ahead. Another example of poor choices is in Act 3 scene 1 where Romeo kills Tybalt after Tybalt killed his beloved friend Mercutio. It is understandable for Romeo to rage at Tybalt who killed his friend but killing Tybalt would not solve the problem. If Romeo took a minute to process the situation and think about the future consequences, the bloodbath in the Capulet’s tomb would have never
