In today’s society, there is a large number of colleges and universities to apply to. There are in-state, private, out-of-state and trade schools everywhere. There are different benefits and downsides to each type of college and there are large selections of each type of school. A state college for California is UC Berkeley, an exceptional school with a large, diverse campus and student body. An example of a private school in California is Stanford University, one of the most selective schools in the world.
A very good In-state college for California would be University of California : Berkeley. Berkeley is located “in the heart of the Bay Area”(“Visitor Services”). Berkeley and the surrounding areas often have cool and windy weather. The city …show more content…
MIT is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, just a mile away from Harvard University. The close proximity to Harvard allows undergraduates and alumni from both schools to easily connect and communicate with one another for community projects and activities. The median to upper range of the average Math and Critical Reading SAT scores for admitted students at MIT are 760-800 and 710-800, which averages out to an SAT score of 1535 for the top 50% of the students. MIT also has an acceptance rate of 7.8%. Like Berkeley and Stanford, MIT is also a very selective school with high standards for education and passion for learning. According to the official MIT website, the estimated unsubsidized price for 2016-17 undergraduates is $67,430, and “MIT only confers financial aid on the basis of financial need.” MIT is the most expensive institution mentioned, but the majority of the cost is subsidized if a student should require financial aid, and it is not granted based off merit or achievements.
