Courage is strength in the face of ones fear or grief and in the book "In the Time of the Butterflies" by Julia Alverez all four of the sisters exhibit their courage in fighting through this dangerous time. The most blatant of these being Minerva and her fighting against Trujillo.
She commits massive sacrifices for this including her son.
