The two points I like from the Independence Day video was when they talk about making an appointment to talk to the student. This was to encourage him as a learner and get his input on how to help him succeed. The other point was when she explained what it meant to her to be an independent learner. She stated they needed to be:
1. Attempt to answer the question (try)
2. Ask question of each other
3. Looking things up
4. Explaining things to others
She then explained what each meant. This I think really helped the students get involved in their education and want to learn for themselves, which I think is important to learning.
