The book Anthem, is very interesting. To me the most interesting yet also puzzling thing of this book are the consequences. Which the characters lack individuality throughout the book. One of the consequences from this would be the confusing language. For example, whenever Equality 7-2521 talks about his discovery of the lightbulb, it gets really confusing. If we ever had to do that for a day, I’d be lost. However, I understand what the author was trying to state. Which is to give the reader the message of collectivism is wrong. Ayn Rand was scared and concerned that the United States might turn into a society of collectivism, that is why she wrote the book. To help people think about the consequences.
The second consequence is positive, being that it gives the book depth. This is a positive consequence because it helps immerse the reader into the story. The type language used in the book reminds me when I was 10 years old. My best friend Ethan and I made up our own language. It didn’t last long, because after awhile we forgot how it went. Which would be the effect that it has on Equality 7-2521. One of the effects was to give him a reason to go against society. Another effect was, making Equality 7-2521 feel helpless and sad.
